Install StreamFlow on a Samsung TV
For Samsung Smart TVs with Tizen (2015 and newer). Takes about 15 minutes the first time.
1. Pick the right file for your TV
Find your TV's model code: on the TV, open Settings → Support → About This TV (or look at the sticker on the back). The letter after the screen size tells you the year, e.g. UE55TU8079 is a 2020 TV, UE49KU6400 a 2016 TV.
| Letter in model code | Year | Download |
|---|---|---|
| R, T, A, B, C, D or newer | 2019 and newer (Tizen 5.0+) | Samsung TV — 2019 and newer |
| J, K, M, N / NU (and Q-series of those years) | 2015 – 2018 (Tizen 2.3 – 4.0) | Samsung TV — 2015 to 2018 |
Download the file on your computer (not on the TV). It ends in .wgt.
2. Turn on Developer Mode on the TV
First find your computer's IP address (you'll type it into the TV):
- Windows: open Command Prompt, type
ipconfig, and use the IPv4 Address (e.g. 192.168.1.20). - Mac: System Settings → Wi-Fi → Details (or Network) and use the IP address shown.
- On the TV, open Apps (from the Home screen / Smart Hub).
- Enter 1 2 3 4 5 on the remote. Remotes without number keys: press the 123 / colour button to show the on-screen number pad.
- In the Developer Mode window, switch Developer mode On.
- Enter your computer's IP address as the Host PC IP and press OK.
- Restart the TV: hold the power button until the TV turns off and on again, or unplug it for 30 seconds.
- Back in Apps you'll see "Developer Mode" at the top. Find the TV's IP address in Settings → General → Network → Network Status → IP Settings (you'll need it in step 4).
3. Install Samsung's free tools on your computer
- Download Tizen Studio from Samsung: developer.samsung.com → Smart TV → Installing TV SDK. The smaller "CLI" installer is enough.
- Install it with the default options. The tools end up in
C:\tizen-studio\tools(Windows) or~/tizen-studio/tools(Mac / Linux).
4. Connect to the TV and install StreamFlow
Open a terminal (Windows: Command Prompt; Mac: Terminal) and run these commands, replacing
192.168.1.50 with your TV's IP and the file name with the one you downloaded.
Windows
cd C:\tizen-studio\tools sdb connect 192.168.1.50 sdb devices ide\bin\tizen.bat install -n "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads\StreamFlow-SamsungTV-v1.4.0-tizen50.wgt" -t SERIALMac / Linux
cd ~/tizen-studio/tools ./sdb connect 192.168.1.50 ./sdb devices ./ide/bin/tizen install -n ~/Downloads/StreamFlow-SamsungTV-v1.4.0-tizen50.wgt -t SERIALsdb devices lists your TV; use the name in its last column (for example UE55TU8079UXZG) instead of
SERIAL. When you see "Tizen application is successfully installed", open StreamFlow
from the TV's Apps screen.
5. Sign in
StreamFlow shows a code and a QR code. Scan it with your phone (or open the link shown) and sign in to your StreamFlow account to activate the TV. Then add your own playlist or provider. StreamFlow is a media player and includes no channels or content.
Updating
When a new version is published, StreamFlow shows a notice on the TV. Download the new file from the downloads and repeat step 4. Your sign-in, playlist and settings are kept. Developer Mode stays on; if your computer's IP address changed, update the Host PC IP in Developer Mode first.
Troubleshooting
sdb connectfails or the TV isn't listed: the TV and computer must be on the same network, and the Host PC IP in Developer Mode must be your computer's current IP. Restart the TV after changing it. Allowsdbthrough your firewall if asked.- "Author certificate not match": an older StreamFlow is installed. Remove it, then install again: tizen uninstall -p uHoAj7gvOZ.StreamFlowIPTV -t SERIAL
- Install refused on a 2015 / 2016 TV: some early models only accept Samsung-signed packages. Contact support with your model code.
- App doesn't start or shows a blank screen: check you used the file for your TV's year (step 1).
